What did I aim to do?
During the peer-to-peer feedback, I received the suggestion to completely take the rope apart. I thought this was an interesting idea, as I hadn't done this before.
Which steps did I take and/or methods did I use?
I started taking the rope apart step by step. I began by pulling out the white core, and then I started unraveling the outer sheath.
What did I find out/learn?
I discovered that the outer sheath is stronger than I thought. Initially, I didn't think it would be that strong, because while cutting the pieces of rope for my other experiments, I noticed it fell apart quite quickly. But apparently, that is only the very first part; taking the rest apart actually takes quite a bit of effort.
Which new questions about my material or process of experimentation do I have?
I find it interesting that the rope consists of so many components, and I might want to do something with that. I also find the sheath, separate from the core, to be an interesting part of the rope.
What does this mean for next steps?
I might want to do an experiment that focuses solely on the use of the sheath.
Which sources do I use to inform my next steps?
I am going to look online to see if there are people who make things using just the sheath of the rope.
